156th Street Update

The entrance/exit currently being utilized at Cuming Street (Grace Abbott School) will remain open for the duration of the project.  The plan as of now, is still to get the southbound lanes poured and converted before the end of the year, weather permitting.

Blondo Street west of 156th should be open in the next few weeks, and that should help alleviate some of the congestion on 156th Street.

Webster Street Entrance Closing

The "main" entrance, Webster Street, is scheduled to close 5/21/19.  As far as we know, this is scheduled to be closed until fall.  The city's plan is to keep Cuming Street open for the duration, however, there will be no left turns.  So if you are exiting Dodge and headed north, you will not be able to take a left turn. You will only be allowed to turn right out of the entrance.  Suggestions for entrance into the neighborhood:

1) Exit Dodge at 144th.  Head to Blondo and take Blondo to 156th in order to approach the neighborhood south bound from Blondo

2) Exit Dodge at 168th. Take 168th to Blondo and take a right. You will then have to enter Bent Creek at 162nd and Blondo.

3) If you exit Dodge at 156th, take a right into Pepperwood and utilize 155th Avenue over to Cuming street to cross 156th OR take a right at Cuming and do a U-turn to cross 156th.

Construction Update - January 3, 2019

Brief Notes from the Public Meeting held at Grace Abbott 1/3/19:

The west side lanes of 156th street will begin soon.  Blondo street west of 156th will be closed summertime 2019, then Blondo east of 156th will be closed summer 2020.

Then east side lanes of 156th a year from now.   No left turns on 156th street (but a city engineer disputed that statement, so not sure).   No new traffic lights will be installed anywhere within the project.

Vandalism to Holiday Decorations

On the evening of Saturday, December 9, 2017 at least two BP neighbors experienced costly damage to their holiday decorations.  Both reported instances occured around 9:45 - 10:00 pm.

One neighbor nearly caught the vandals in the act, but they got away and the other neighbor has security camera footage of the act. Unfortuantely, neither were able to get a license plate number of the vehicle.

It appeared to be teenagers driving a dark or black colored, 4-door, small hatchback-type vehicle similar to a Ford EchoSport or a Chevy Trax.

If you have any information or saw any other vandalism occuring, please forward the information to President Dan Ferris and he will route the information to the affected neighbors as the incidences have been reported to the police.  Together, perhaps we can identify the criminals and deter further vandalism.

156th Street Widening Project

Work will start on 156th street in the fall of 2018 or more likely early 2019.  We understand that 168th street widening happens first. Agents are currently obtaining necessary easements and right of way.  Construction will last approximately 18-24 months.  For more information, go to Keepomahamoving.com/156th.html or click the button below:
